Tax Assessments

Our firm was instrumental in the 1960’s and 1970’s in forcing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to develop a fair system of real estate taxation and we are committed to continuing the fight for fair assessments.  By emphasizing a team approach to valuation, we regularly achieve assessment reductions for improperly valued or overvalued property.

We represent residential and commercial property owners before the Board of Property Assessment and if necessary, the Board of Viewers to help them achieve fair taxation of their real estate.  We also assist owners in defending their assessment should a tax authority seek to increase the assessment.

Harvey E. Robins has earned an excellent reputation in the area of real estate tax assessment appeals, representing local, national and international commercial concerns and chains. Robins has been actively practicing in real estate tax assessments for over forty (40) years and has earned a national reputation for his assessment work. Greg Gerlach also represents many property owners in assessment cases, and is frequently successful in getting reductions in assessed values for our clients.

There are strict deadlines to file an appeal if you are a property owner and want to appeal your current assessment,  In Allegheny County, that deadline is typically at the end of March.

Our tax assessment client base extends to banks, hotels, hospitals, country clubs and golf courses, food and drug chains, investment properties, self-storage facilities, gas stations retail complexes and shopping centers, office buildings, apartment complexes, duplexes and homes.
